Remember when nuclear weapons were a bad thing?
No more! Now, the President of the United States is bragging about all the nuclear weapons he’s got, and how the button he could use to detonate them all “works”.
”North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”
Let’s remember what it means when a nuclear button works: Millions of people die from a single nuclear weapon blast.
The USA is the country that invented nuclear weapons, and is the only nation ever to use them, killing huge numbers of civilians.
This is not something to brag about. It’s nothing to be proud of.
Boasting about how many weapons of mass destruction he has at his disposal is behavior we would expect from a third rate dictator – not from the President of the United States.
The context of this boast is equally as disturbing as its content. It comes as a reaction to the announcement that the governments of North Korea and South Korea are going to start discussions with each other again.
It seems that Donald Trump is upset at the prospect of peace in Korea, that he is looking for excuses to provoke a war in which he can use his “big” nuclear weapons.
Too many lives hang in the balance for this saber rattling to continue. This isn’t a reality show. It’s the real world, and no one who is excited at the prospect of using nuclear weapons in it deserves a role of power in it.
